Description
Puppy socials are an excellent opportunity for added socialization. Play sessions complement puppy classes and private training, allowing puppies of the same age and playstyle to interact whereas classes may not provide ample time.

Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for your puppy to learn appropriate dog-to-dog interactions. We will help you learn how to read body language. We will help you understand when the dogs are enjoying play and when it may no longer become enjoyable and how to handle those situations. During play we will discuss play styles, breed differences, and possible red flags to watch out for.

GENERAL REMINDERS:
- Please bring your own treats. We recommend bringing your dog's breakfast with you and use it during the social as rewards for redirection and attention. It is helpful to have treats on hand to practice behaviors and redirect puppies when needed.
- Early and proper socialization is essential for all puppies. However, all puppies must first see their local vet for a health checkup.
- Puppies should have age appropriate vaccinations and at least one round of Distemper.
- The Rabies vaccine is not offered until 4 months of age at minimum. We strongly encourage puppies to socialize prior to 4 months of age with other dogs of similar age. The benefits of positive socialization to their behavioral development far outweighs the risk of exposure to Rabies from another puppy.
- Puppies have vulnerable immune systems. Any puppy attending our socials should be free of any contagious illness, including puppy warts, canine cough, giardia, and hookworms. These illnesses specifically are highly contagious to other dogs. If your dog is diagnosed with any of these health conditions, your vet will advise that they self-isolate until your dog is no longer contagious. Once your vet determines your dog is save to mingle with other dogs again, they should provide us with approval for your dog to return to class or socials.
- Attendance is limited to 10 dogs, however the trainer will use discretion based on the dogs in attendance that day. Oftentimes if the dogs are playing well, we can accommodate a few additional puppies.
- Should attendance exceed 10 dogs on a regular basis, we may reevaluate our schedule and attempt to open another play session to accommodate growth. However this is rarely necessary as each attendee comes when their schedule allows and usually not consistently from week to week. Class sizes and dogs attending will vary from week to week.

Description
As your dog progresses from puppyhood to adulthood, their physical energy level is at its peak but the mental maturity is still very much lacking! Our socials offer a safe place for young dogs to explore boundaries and come into their own personality and way of expression.

We strongly encourage our tween socials over dog parks . At dog parks you do not necessarily know what kind of dogs are present and if your dog's play style will match theirs. Our trainers will teach you what to look for during play, in order to ensure a successful play experience. We will teach you skills you can use to support your dog in developing healthy social skills through adulthood.

If you were previously attending puppy socials, tween socials are an excellent continuation for them to continue developing social skills from other dogs, with a trainer's guidance. Tween socials are recommended for anyone taking an Adolescent Manners or Adaptable Adolescents class; the socials provide off-leash socialization opportunities whereas the classes are focused on learning manners cues and acquiring skills unrelated to socializing with other dogs and people.

- Please bring your own treats. Having treats on hand helps with practicing behaviors and offering rewards for redirection and attention.

- If your dog is older than 1 year, they must be spayed or neutered to participate.

- These sessions are self-managed and subject to change at any time. Check back often for the "next available date".
- You may cancel and rebook your own appointments. Please refer to the confirmation email sent via google after you book your session. Tip: If you are logged into Google, make sure you know the email address you are using when you make your appointment. It may be different from the email you use to communicate with us.
- At the bottom of your Google email confirmation there are links to cancel, rebook, or add the session to your own personal calendar. We highly recommend you do this so you remember your booked appointments.
- Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance and no-shows will count as if you attended, and be deducted from your package.
- The booking links will display up to 60-days in advance, on a rolling basis.

Adolescence can be a challenging time of life for your dog. Teenage dogs tend to have an increased focus on being independent, exploring boundaries, and trying new things. They are learning how much fun it is to be a dog and maybe focus a little less on us.

With a brain under construction, we often see intense emotions, impulsive behavior, and a hard time self-regulating. This course focuses on core concepts to help your adolescent dog develop into an adult dog that can adapt, self-regulate, and make good decisions.

This course functions well as a stand-alone course and does not require any prerequisites. If you are currently or have previously been enrolled in our Adolescent Manners course, Tween Socials, or private lessons, this course will complement your learning, expanding on familiar concepts and introducing new ones.

Description
Once an adolescent, your dog will experience a decrease in tolerance and often require more mental stimulation. Adolescent dogs become curious about their surroundings, yet may also start to show anxiety toward things they previously ignored. This developmental phase is normal, though it brings its own unique challenges. In class, we'll focus on strengthening the bond and communication between you and your dog, working together as a team. The goal of this course is to support you and your adolescent dog during this transitional period, helping them grow into a well-adjusted adult. We will cover essential skills for everyday life, emotional regulation skills, and enrichment activities that cater to your dog's evolving needs.

Basic Manners is a great class for both new and experienced dog owners. In this class, we will introduce basic bahaviors that you can use in everyday life. You'll learn what motivates your dog and how to understand their body language, especially in different environments. We'll focus on leash manners, coming when called, greeting people without jumping. Basic Manners integrates fun training activities to keep things enjoyable for both you and your dog. Coming when called, or recall, is an important life skill. A reliable recall allows us to keep our dogs safe outdoors and in emergencies. This course will cover the important foundations to building a strong and more reliable response to your recall cue, as well as valuable skills and techniques to pair with your recall to help keep your dog safe and motivated to come to you every time. Description
Some dogs who are genetically predisposed to fear, lack appropriate socialization, are bred to be alert and vigilant, are living in an overwhelming environment, or have experienced trauma, adjust to the environment in ways that are inner focused. Rather than bark and chase, they will hide and cower. They may experience frequent digestive issues and may dabble in self-harming. These dogs often feel they lack control over their world. They would benefit greatly by being exposed to situations in which they have agency, a sense of control. In Confidence Building, we will show you ways to have your dog interact with their environment while continually giving them an opportunity to opt out. We will focus on different ways to expand and flex their mind in order to get them to open up and enjoy life.

Description
When dogs bark and lunge while on leash, it is an uncomfortable time for the dog. It is also uncomfortable for others involved. In the Dog Reactive course, we will expose you to and practice ways to reduce the frequency of outbursts. We will explain the value of reducing overall stress by using management in your home. We will use body language to identify the moment before the bark so you can take action early. And yes, there will be other reactive dogs in the room. The dogs have visual blockers around their home cubby and will be out on the floor when ready. Having other dogs in a controlled environment and coached by trainers is a perfect way to set up desensitization and counter conditioning.

When you have a dog who is reactive to other dogs, you are on a journey to reduce frequency of outbursts (barking & lunging), reduce the intensity of outbursts (so loud, so strong!), and increase the recoverability (I can't see the dog anymore, but barkbarkbark!). Taking Dog Reactive Part 1 is a great start on that journey. Once you've trained with us, you may find yourself without a way to do trigger training in a safe and structured space at the level you and your dog need. Dog Reactive Part 2 is designed for the student who wants more opportunities to have coached practice set-ups in a safe space with committed fellow students. We will continue work that was initiated in the Dog Reactive Part 1 course. There are many more outside experiences in Dog Reactive Part 2.

Going for a walk should be enjoyable for both ends of the leash. This course is designed to teach both human and dog the skills needed to increase that enjoyment. We will be focusing on teaching you and your dog how to maintain a slack leash while still exploring the world, what to do when your dog meets the end of the leash, how to walk close to each other for short periods of time, and how to respond when your dog sees mild triggers in the environment.

Although it's wonderful when our friends and family love our dog. Sometimes your dog does not love them. Sometimes your dog doesn't want people in their home. For these dogs, we will discuss managment techniques that reduce the times your dog is uncomfortable. We'll talk about equipment and work on exercises that will show you best practices for handling your dog in people-heavy and challenging situations. An emphasis will be placed on dog body language. What is your dog saying about this experience?

This class is designed for puppies and their specific needs. At this age, emphasis should be on building comfort with the world through positive interactions at a level they are upbeat about, also known as socialization. This is also the time to set up good habits early on and bond with your young dog. In this course, we will show you how to teach your puppy skills and manners for everyday life, as well as how to build your puppy's confidence and independence in the world through engagement activities. Puppies will be introduced to skills like how to respond to their name, come when called, walk on a loose leash, and greet people politely. Depending on the participants and the progress of the lesson plans, we may be able to get some puppy off-leash play. For a bunch of puppy play, check out our Puppy Socials, where we provide group play situations, another key to getting your pup the experiences they need.

In addition to positive reinforcement training (in general), getting dogs to use their noses has had a grand upgrade in the last decade. There have been dogs formally trained to detect explosives or contraband, dogs formally trained to trace a being's location or find cadavers. In more recent years, humans are realizing just how fun this can be for dogs and are developing more and more ways to engage the dog's nose. There is not a ton of research, but anecdotally, we've seen behavioral changes in dogs who take our scent work type classes. We've seen impulsive dogs become focused while on the floor searching. We've seen dog reactive dogs have a place they and their people can go to have fun since there are no other triggers as dogs are working solo while searching. We've seen tail-down, slow-moving dogs become tail-up, fast-paced dogs when they are on a run.

In our Scent Work 1 course, we set up activities where your dog's nose is the leader. Your dog's nose is a much more capable machine than humans have between our eyes. These activities start with your dog finding food in boxes. As the weeks progress, the activities will become increasingly challenging for your dog and will be adjusted to your dog's capacities and interests.

For Scent Work II, we'll take your dog familiar with Scent Work and work outside and with vehicle searches. We will stick with the underlying goals of Scent Work I.

- Your dog searches with focus and without direct help from you

- You and your dog add to your knowledge of interior searching of containers and perimeters

- You and your dog are exposed to exterior searches (hunting with in a search area outside) and vehicle searches (having the nose seem magnetized to stay on the car being searched).

- You develop solid observation skills of your dog's behavior during the search.

On occasion we will throw in some container and interior searches, but most of the weeks we'll be outside. Often the last class will be held at a different location, like a travel class does.

Description
Off-leash dog play can be magical, as long as you are able to communicate with your dog in a way that overrides the distractions of being off-leash and being in the middle of a high arousal activity. In this class we will expose you to ways of broadening your dog's attention on you so you will be a part of their play experience. The fastest way to be successful is to start slow.

In this first part, we'll be working on everything distracting while on leash. The focus will be recall, retrieve, and relaxation to mimic the energy ups and downs of playing off-leash well with another dog. We'll work on coming when called, especially away from exciting things, like a dog playing. We'll develop a bit of regulation by injecting settle in between high arousal toy play. During the development of these skills, we will be working within barriers and on leash. Off-leash will be explored in Part 2, using the barrier to enclose multiple dogs playing. In Part 1, we work to develop and improve skills around rambunctous other dogs. We start by teaching you how to be in tune with your dog rather than relying on over-bearing cues. Instead you'll be strategically reinforcing your dog for paying attention to humans around distractions and when excited.

Having a crate-trained dog opens up numerous avenues for pet care throughout your dog's life. Join us for an informative workshop where we will work together with you and your dog using your own crate, which you'll bring to class*. By using your own crate, we can provide personalized advice on its suitability. We will go over exercises for increasing your dog's tolerance to the crate and help them to remain relaxed. We will also cover some general best practices for crates such as how to determine appropriate size, location in the home, and duration of use. This workshop is ideal for anyone just starting crate training at home, for those who might feel they've hit a plateau, or for those who feel they've regressed. It's also an excellent opportunity for dogs that will be in daycare and boarding or receiving veterinary care in facilities that utilize crates. Each session begins with some prep work inside the facility and then we take it on the road. The emphasis of this workshop is how to effectively meet and greet other dogs on leash. This workshop helps you determine in advance, if your dog should or should not meet the other dog. Our goal is to help your dog remain calm and responsive when they see, walk by, or meet another dog. But what if the other dog does not want to meet? What if your dog doesn't want to meet? How will you know? We will help you assess the situation and your dog while practicing skills on how to keep your dog's attention while the other dog to calmly pass by.

Description
Whether you have taken our Confidence Building class in the past or you see it might be in your future, this is the perfect workshop for you! Fear presents itself in different ways. Each dog has a unique response to fear and each dog may experience fear in different ways. Your dog's history plays a part and so does the environment. We will be mindful of the presentation of fear in the dogs attending and will alter the discussion and content accordingly.
